Internal Clock

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Within you lies an innate alarm clock... the Holy Spirit. It is your internal clock. It is your internal compass. Allow it to lead you and guide you...

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit fo truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." ~ John 14:17

Most people use some form of an alarm clock to wake them up every day, whether this clock is a physical alarm clock, your cell phone or your kids coming into your room because they are ready for breakfast. You have been trained to use some form of clock to know when to do things throughout your life. But have you ever wondered if this is the way God intended you to wake up and get your day started? Do any other creatures use a man made clock to know when to do things? No, they do not. So why do we?

Now I am not going to say I do not use an alarm clock, but I will say that I have told myself what time I wanted to get up the next day and purposely did not set my physical alarm clock on my cell phone just to see for myself. Do you want to know what happened? I woke up several minutes before I needed to be up. Have you ever tried this before? Or better yet, have you ever felt the inclination to go in a different direction when driving which could have diverted you from a traffic jam or car accident if you had of listened? Have you ever felt the nudge to do anything in your gut and you questioned it and had you of listened to "yourself", the outcome of the situation would have faired on your behalf? I know I cannot be the only person that has experienced this throughout their life.

This my friend is the God within you. This is the Holy Spirit, directing your path. It is what I would consider to be your internal clock or compass that directs and guides you throughout your life. It nudges you and pushes you to do things or say things that you would not have considered trying to get you to listen. The problem is that many do not listen to it, and I have been guilty of this as well.

What I believe God is trying to say is, if we would but listen to that small still voice within ourselves, our lives would be transformed. We would no longer need a physical alarm clock, because the Holy Spirit within you is your alarm clock! Oh ye of little faith, you must learn to listen! You must learn to be guided and most of all to trust and have faith that when you feel an inclination to do something, say something, go in a different direction or path that you thought you wanted to go, you must listen because on the other side of that one small decision could be the groundbreaking biggest decision of your life.
